Massa: Ferrari has no advantage

Felipe Massa is happy with Ferrari’s preparation for the 2010 Formula 1 season, but does not believe it heads for Bahrain with any advantage over its rivals.
The 28-year-old Brazilian, who spent much of the final Barcelona test day running with a heavy fuel load, finished third quickest today.

Barrichello tips Williams to surprise

Rubens Barrichello is optimistic that his Williams team will prove to be one of the surprises of the year after encouraging times in recent tests.
Williams has spent much of the winter doing long runs and proving its reliability, but Nico Hulkenberg was quickest on Friday at Barcelona – and Barrichello thinks that performance has changed perceptions of their team.

Alguersuari hoping to surprise

Jaime Alguersuari hopes to spring a few surprises as he starts his first full season of Formula 1 this year. Having become the sport’s youngest ever driver last season, the Toro Rosso man returns to racing after taking part in his first ever official F1 test session this winter.
Due to the limited testing regulations, Alguersuari’s debut in Budapest last year saw the teenager drive a Formula 1 car around a corner for the first time just two days before starting the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Ferrari slams FIA’s new team ‘holy war’

Ferrari has attacked the FIA’s push to bring new teams into Formula 1, in the wake of the problems currently surrounding Team US F1 and Campos Meta.
With neither outfit yet having a car ready to run, and US F1 hoping to miss the first few races of the season, the sport is facing up to the fact that it will probably not have as full a grid as it had hoped to have for 2010.

Alonso happy to uncover 2007 ’spygate’

Fernando Alonso says he was ‘very happy’ to help Formula 1’s ruling body, the FIA, uncover the spy saga that hit the sport in 2007.
McLaren was excluded from that year’s championship and fined $100 million after it was discovered the team was in possession of Ferrari technical data.

Toro Rosso confident over STR5 reliability

Scuderia Toro Rosso finished this week’s four-day test at Jerez on a positive note, with the Italian team pleased to have completed the week in Spain without any major problems. Chief Engineer Laurent Mekies said he was happy with the car’s reliability ahead of the final week of testing in Barcelona.
“That is encouraging on the reliability front,” he commented. “Even with the rain interrupting our programme this week, it has been quite a useful test, working on both dry and wet weather basic setups.

Alonso: Ferrari best car I’ve ever had

Fernando Alonso has declared the Ferrari F10 the best car he has ever driven – and says the team is yet to show what it can really do.
Ferrari was quickest throughout the first test of the winter at Valencia a fortnight ago, but has kept a lower profile during the past fortnight at Jerez.

Button: Ferrari strongest at present

Jenson Button believes the Ferrari is the strongest-looking car after the first full dry day of testing at Jerez this week.
Mark Webber set the best time of the day for Red Bull, with Fernando Alonso second quickest for Ferrari and Button’s McLaren third. Alonso and Button both completed several long runs today and Button was impressed by the consistent pace of the Ferrari.

Buemi targets regular points in 2010

Sebastien Buemi says he is much better prepared for his second season of Formula 1 and believes he will be able to finish in the points on a regular basis this year.
The Toro Rosso driver has tested for the last two days at Jerez, finishing fourth quickest on Wednesday and just 11th today after a hydraulics problem cost the team three hours of running.

Massa laments poor track conditions

Felipe Massa was left lamenting the poor track conditions on the second day of this week’s testing at the Jerez circuit on Thursday.
For the second day running, the rain hit the Spanish track during the session, with strong winds making things even more difficult.
Massa, who managed 92 laps on his way to the fifth fastest time, admitted the day had been far from ideal.

Toro Rosso eager for dry running

Toro Rosso is hoping for more stable conditions over the remainder of this week’s Jerez test after admitting that the frequently-changing weather during the opening day of running made it difficult to advance with its programme.

Ferrari reveals Jerez testing plans

Fernando Alonso will kick off Ferrari’s testing on his home ground at Jerez in Spain this week, driving for the first two days before handing the car over to Felipe Massa.
The Spaniard was fastest of all in last week’s first pre-season test at Valencia, with the early indications suggesting that Ferrari has an early edge in its preparations for the 2010 season.

Work continues on second Ferrari

The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro is getting ready for this season’s second test session, on the agenda from 10 to 13 February at the Spanish Jerez de la Frontera circuit.
This morning the main part of the team will leave Maranello, including mechanics and the men working at the logistics, telemetry and electronics, while the engineers will arrive in Spain on Tuesday evening.

Ferrari stays realistic over testing pace

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali says he is not getting carried away by his team’s strong start to pre-season testing this week.
Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso dominated proceedings at Valencia in Spain with both drivers the only men to lap under the 1m12s barrier. Alonso ended up quickest of all with a best time of 1m11.470s.
