Kubica pins hopes on Renault upgrade

Robert Kubica is hopeful his Renault team will take a significant step forward when it introduces some planned upgrades to this car for this week’s test in Barcelona.

Webber cautious over RB6 testing pace

Mark Webber says he is not taking anything for granted ahead of the new Formula 1 season after the Red Bull driver set a new benchmark time of 1m19.299s time in testing at Jerez on Friday.
The Australian revealed after his proper consistently dry day of running that he believed the new RB6 to be a ‘good car’ but that it was too early to say how it compares to that of his McLaren and Ferrari rivals.

Webber dominates dry day at Jerez

Mark Webber and his Red Bull Racing team returned to the top of the timesheets at Jerez as the weather finally gave the teams a break on Friday.
After days of rain, the sun finally made an appearance for most the session, allowing teams to work on their programmes following the frustration of the opening two days.

Petrov yearns for dry running

Although it may be considered of rather academic interest in testing, Vitaly Petrov was higher up the timesheets than ever before in Jerez on Thursday as he managed the day’s second best lap time behind Rubens Barrichello despite hoping for a dry race track.

Conditions the only problem, reports Vettel

Like everybody in the Jerez paddock, Sebastian Vettel was hoping for dry weather on Thursday but failed to see the dream become a reality. The German did enjoy a problem-free day car wise, however, as he prepares to hand the Red Bull RB6 to team-mate Mark Webber for the remaining two days of the current test in Spain.

Vettel fastest as testing resumes

Sebastian Vettel put Red Bull at the head of the order on a test day for the first time in 2010, as the third pre-season test got underway with another wet day at Jerez.
Conditions were difficult throughout the day, with sunshine only occasionally breaking through between heavy showers and persistent dampness.

Vettel: It looks very close

Sebastian Vettel drove a Formula 1 car in anger last week for the first time since winning the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in November. With Mark Webber having piloted the new Red Bull RB6 on Wednesday and Thursday, German Sebastian stepped into the cockpit for Friday and Saturday’s runs at Jerez.

Kubica pleased with Renault’s progress

Robert Kubica says he has been pleased with the progress made by his Renault team in testing, despite a discreet showing in the opening two sessions.

More rain forecast for second Jerez test

Formula 1 testing at Jerez is expected to be hit by rain again this week.
Teams had limited dry running during last week’s four-day test and the weather for this week’s second test at the Spanish circuit is expected to be much the same.

RBR: Ferrari, McLaren have improved

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner says his squad is expecting a much greater threat from Ferrari and McLaren this year judging by early testing results.
Although RBR dominated the final three races of 2009 and starts this season among the title favourites, Horner is not underestimating the challenge from former champions Ferrari and McLaren – who he believes have made great strides during the winter.

Renault resolves brake issue

The Renault team was one of ten to be frustrated by the weather conditions in Jerez on Wednesday. As a spell of rain makes its way across Spain, Vitaly Petrov was able to complete only one dry stint of the southwestern circuit before showers made an appearance between 10am and 5pm.
After enjoying his first Formula 1 test outing in Valencia last week, Russian Petrov kicked off Renault’s Jerez programme but will be handing the car over to Polish team-mate Robert Kubica for Thursday.

Webber upbeat after first Red Bull test

Mark Webber has given Red Bull Racing’s new RB6 an instant thumbs up after its first day of testing – and reckons the team has delivered exactly what it needed to for this season.

Mark Webber says Red Bull Racing has left no stone unturned in its bid to ensure the RB6 is good enough to capture the world championship this year.
With the Milton Keynes-based outfit having lost out to Brawn GP in 2009, Red Bull missed the first test at Valencia last week to spend more time in the factory developing its new car.
