Formula 1 technical chiefs have officially agreed to ban double diffusers from the start of next year, infomotosport can reveal.
A move to cut aerodynamic downforce was discussed with the FIA in Thursday’s meeting of F1 think-tank the Technical Working Group, where agreement was necessary if the changes were to be implemented in future regulations.

The Formula One Teams’ Association has confirmed that McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh has been elected as its new chairman for the year 2010.
As first revealed by infomotosport in December, Whitmarsh is taking over the mandate from Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, whose one-year term ended last month.

Lotus boss Tony Fernandes believes that the arrival of new teams and new faces in Formula 1 will act as a force for positive change in the sport throughout 2010.
The Malaysian entrepeneur, who twins his Lotus role with his AirAsia business, reckons F1 has been held back in the past by too much off-track politics and conflict.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says that Formula 1 needs to find answers to its problems as soon as possible if his Maranello outfit is to stick with the sport for the long-term.
